2024 White Pine Seedlings

For those who've been waiting, the white pine trees have come in! They're rehydrating, and I'll be sorting them over the next few days. This year they all look to be close to the same size, and most will be $2.00-$3.00 each. #pinetree

Unique BeautiesThis Year

Lord willin', I will have many kinds of specialty type things available this year, to include these beauties, Dawn creek blush zinnias and vintage colored celosia, from Floret. I will include some in fresh and dried bouquets, and possibly sell some in 6 in pots as well. I'll also be growing Sunflower Steves unique and beautiful sunflowers! The availability of long time favorites, annuals and perrenials, has become next to nill locally these days. The last few years, all that I've seen available is begonias, petunias, Bonnie's herbs and vegetables, and a few random others. I treasure the long-time favorites and heirlooms such as garden phlox, Speedwell, larkspur, hollyhocks, allysum, Yarrow, snapdragons and many others. Keep me in mind this Spring, when it's time to get back out and dig in the dirt!

Watch Here to see a short  video from Floret to see what the varieties look like! 🌸🌼🌸

Weed Control On The Cheap

I'm a member of Mike's group, and have learned SO much from this man, as well as his long time members/growers.

Here's a great article on using boxes as a weed barrier. I've done this, and am fixing to lay some down again shortly. We've got quite a collection of boxes from Christmas/winter. πŸ˜…

Works great! #gardening

My Nursery Facebook Page

Hi all!
Well, here we are in January of a new year,  once again. Seems impossible doesn't it?!
Soon, I'll be getting busy sticking hardwood cuttings and sowing seeds. I'm grateful for the ability to still have a way to stay active with plants, even on long, gray winter days.
I also have some dormant to semi-dormant hydrangeas and roses available on etsy and ebay.
As long as you can get a shovel in the ground, you can plant!
Now is also a good time to do clean up, and add manure compost to the garden, so that it can break down, and work it's magic this Spring.
Here in zone 6b, you can even start a small patch of cold crops next month, such as lettuce. My great grandpa always sowed his first lettuce on Valentine's Day. I do now also, in his memory.
I just wanted to remind you, especially for my locals, that I update my Facebook page when I can, so check in over there occasionally if you want!
I share links and things, at times, that I find to be helpful or interesting.
So, stay warm, keep flipping through those seed catalogs for this year's plantings, and for ideas and wish lists!

New! Flower Stand & Email List

Would you like to be on an email list to receive first notice of what I have available? Accounts are getting hacked more and more, so an email list is one of the best ways to ensure contact. I'm thinking I'll probably just send out one weekly email during the active growing season. Along with my shruΙ“s, trees and other potted plants, I'm planning to have some fresh flower bouquets this year, and some dried. I'm cooking up ideas for a movable flower stand/cart, that will be pulled out towards the end of the driveway on days when things are available. Easy, no-contact, pay and pickup at your convenience! Potted plants and shrubs can be picked up at the stand also.
To receive those emails, let me know at: sissy_1973@yahoo.com  πŸŒΈπŸŒΌπŸ’

Lightening Fast Deciduous Hedge

Hey guys,
Hope you're all staying warm! We have lots more extreme cold to get through over the next couple of months, but before you know it, those beautiful little Spring flowers will be waking up. We can even begin planting cold weather greens next month,  and potatoes a just a few weeks later!
I'm attempting to encourage myself right along with you lol.
So I just wanted to let those who aren't aware know about these amazing Hydrangeas pictured above. These are Paniculata hydrangeas, and people often call "sun hydrangeas." Very different from those that grow in shade and have the large blue and pink balls. Some, such as the limelight and Tardiva, can handle all-day blazing sun. Phantom appreciates a little afternoon shade. All of them are very fast growers, putting on anywhere from 2-3 ft per year!
They are an excellent choice if you need to get up a privacy barrier quick. One that won't have roots that cause worry about pipes and house foundations,  won't grow into overhead electric lines, and is very low maintenance and very hardy.
They do lose their foliage in the winter, but most of us aren't outside much when it's cold anyway, and they can become pretty densely branched with yearly pruning. They can be limbed up as well into small tree form, and then underplanted with other things if you want. I have many of these and other varieties available now, and certainly more coming on next year. If these hydrangeas fit the bill, contact me anytime for availability and a shipping quote, or visit my etsy store.

Have a safe and blessed New Year, and while you're longing to be outdoors, plan ahead for things you'd like to order, and projects you'd like to start in your space!

It's Hydrangea Time Ya'll!
