I raise poultry as a fun hobby, but also strive to raise quality birds whether for exhibition, pets, or for your own breeding program!
I hatch for myself mainly, and usually only part with chicks or older birds after I've hatched and kept what I need for my own personal breeding goals and enjoyment.
I have not shown them, but 99% of my foundation birds came from or were hatched from breeders who do/did show. I have raised MANY chicks over the years, invested alot of time, emotion and money, and kept the best to breed and make my own lines. I can not and will guarantee show quality though, I don't feel any breeder should. Who knows what will come out of every egg, or how a chick will grow out?!
I love to see some of them go to 4-H kids!
I'm a farm kid and have had chickens all my life. The birds I have now, and have really invested in and worked with, are 6+ years in the making.
I do not vaccinate.
Thanks for your interest!
Here's just a general idea only on prices. Increases are possible depending on rising costs of feed and other essentials, and more years invested.
Varies by quality, variety, color and availability:
Large Fowl Black Mottled Cochins
Sadly, I'm not raising LF Cochins at this time. I lost my last and main rooster just recently (so sad!), and I only have a couple of older girls left who haven't laid in quite some time. They are pets and will remain with me to live out their lives. If something changes, I will update this section and post about the changes. Thank you for your interest...

Silkies
This is just a general starting point, only. If I have some pet quality babies they will be a little less. Perfectly loveable but have minor faults such as incorrect number of toes or eye color.
My main Paint Silkie breeding group are bearded with the correct numbers of toes, and skin, eye, and ear color, and consists of:
Paint, white, Frizzle and normal feathered white from Paint, Paint from Black and paint, frizzle paint, lightly marked paint, boldly marked Paints, and some champagne colored from paint. If you purchase hatching eggs,
You may hatch the rare Blue or Partridge, but i don't hatch those colors very often now. No Partridge and just the occasional blue. Mostly you will hatch White, Paint, or Black chicks, both normal and Frizzled feathers.
Most of my birds have vaulted skulls.
I have no satins or showgirls in that pen at this time but plan to add some!
Please keep in mind the added time and cost invested in growing Silkies and satins out until they can be sexed, which is often 4+ mo.s without a DNA test! Everyone mostly want hens, which is understandable. But, just as many (usually more!) Roosters hatch as well. With hens being the demand, they aren't cheap. There's much more time and care invested to raise them to an age where I can tell them apart from the males. And pretty hens are the golden egg! 😊

Payment
If paying online, I use PayPal. It's also accepted for local pickup, and cash, no personal checks.
Due to past bad experiences, I can not hold birds unless paid for. I will hold for three days only after payment.
Some people make things harder for all of the rest of us, unfortunately!

Shipping - NO SHIPPING AT THIS TIME
! Disregard the info below at this time. Unless the USPS gets their issues lined out, I won't be shipping. Delays, damage, scrambled eggs, packages lost, increasing shipping rates, and their refusal to reimburse when the three day express window isn't fulfilled, leaves me no choice.
Chicks and adults are suffering due to their negligence when handling live animals. If I begin shipping again, I will update this page and post as well!
Since I am a hobbiest, not a hatchery, I can not replace birds as they are insured and able to do. If harm or loss occurs during shipping, or birds are delivered late, insurance claims can be filed with the USPS under most circumstances. I'm fairly certain that they will only offer refunds if they take longer than specified to arrive, 72 hours, or if there's sufficient evidence to show that the P.O. is at fault.
Shipping live animals is a risk, and shipping prices have went up drastically over the past year, so please understand and agree to assume the risk before inquiring about shipped birds or eggs. Buying shipped hatching eggs is also a big gamble, one I've taken many times myself in order to have rare breeds. Sometimes it went well, sometimes it was a complete loss!
I will collect fertile eggs for up to three days, then ship. Eggs stay viable for up to 14 days and I keep them that long sometimes when I hatch, but shipping is hard on eggs, so three days is the longest I'll hold them, then ship.
I will ship eggs on Monday, Tuesday or Saturday.
States I can ship to:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Alaska, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Wyoming, California, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, and South Carolina.
I will only ship if temps are safe on both ends of the journey. Usually between 40°-80°, generally October through May.
I'd have to calculate shipping according to your address, and there is a $15.00 box replacement fee.
Shipping only within the U.S., some states excluded due to individual regulations.
